Quick update

I'm just dropping in a quick note to apologize for not blogging in a while. We're in a very busy season. I have stories and pictures to blog, but never quite seem to find the time. It's for good reason though.  Here's just a few of the things we have going on:
  • The house is still on the market. We dropped the price recently so (hopefully) more people will come see it and someone will buy it.  My OCD cleaning has returned in full force.
  • Ben is finishing his last graduate paper for his Master's degree. It's not technically a thesis, but it's similar. I'm his official "editor" so I've been reading chapters here and there. He also has to present it (with a poster display) in a couple of weeks so he's been preparing that. (I'm also his official poster-putter-together.)
  • Our foster care license is soon to expire so we are in the process of renewing that. That just means more paperwork and appointments. Lots of both.
  • The Little Mister is now getting 4 different therapies through Early Intervention. It's a huge help to him and his starting to catch up to his developmental milestones.
  • The Handsome Man is turning 5 in ten days. The Little Mister will be 1 just a week and a half later. We're trying to plan a little celebration for them.
  • I've been training for a half marathon for the last 2.5 months. The race is Sunday. This Sunday. Oh my. I've never run 13.1 miles ever but I'm determined to finish even if I have to crawl across the line.
Phew....my regular life is busy enough. Thankfully, in a couple of weeks, most of these things will be finished this busy season will pass.  Last night, I stole away a moment of stillness away from all the busyness. The Princess had a rough night of sleep and was awake for a couple of hours. At about 4AM, I ran out of ideas to get her back to sleep so I asked her if she wanted a snack. She nodded her head with wide happy eyes. We sat together in the quiet, dim dining room eating saltine crackers. She babbled away as if I totally understood her. And I held her on my lap enjoying a minute of not cleaning, editing, filling out forms, doing therapy exercises, but just simply enjoying the moment.  I let her eat a whole bunch of crackers and tell me lots of her babbling stories until she seemed like she might actually go back to sleep. She did. And so did I. But I actually wouldn't mind if she woke up again tonight. I could go for another early morning snack of crackers and "stories".
